Role Models

OK, so let's talk about this pet peeve subject of mine.

PARENTS! yeah you over there, I'm talking to you. STOP PUTTING SO MUCH FAITH IN OTHER PEOPLE TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN. You need to be your child's role model, and stop shirking your duty by sticking your kid in front of a TV and saying " You can be just like him or her when you grow up." More times than not, no they can't and no they shouldn't. It is not the responsibility of celebrities to be wholesome and faultless. They have a job just like you and me and that's all they can be judged on; if they do it well or not. If what they're portraying in their personal lives is not what you want in your life and for your family, get off your duff and instill it yourself. The way we exalt these human beings to the level of demigod continually illustrates a weakness in our society to take care and do right by our own.

What do you expect from these people? Just because they're good at their career, like countless other people, does not mean that they cannot make mistakes or be who they want to be because their contract guarantees them millions. THEY'RE HUMAN just like us; we're all fallible. If that contract ha s decency clause then that's on them for signing something they know they won't be able to uphold and they should have negotiated better.

This is the same gripe I have with politics and religion. Just because I don't happen to believe in what you do does not make me less human, evil or wrong. It just means I have a different point of view of how I want to live my life. If I want to go and make the statement that M&M's are the most delicious candy ever and you dispute it then so be it. Am I hurting anyone? If an actor likes to smoke weed and does it in his own personal time out of the limelight, or for that matter, in it, that's his business. Is he hurting you or stunting your lifestyle? If your answer is yes, then you really need to get a life and take that stick out of your rear. The world does not revolve around you or anyone in a perceived "position of power". There are no bad people; there are choices. If you think M&M's or weed are bad then you're entitled, but don't start trying to spew your holier than though crap at other people who disagree. It's not your place to decide what's moral for the masses. Where is it written that we all have to conform to a specific social policy; a societal norm? If that was the case we wouldn't have any creativity in this world. Gone with art, gone with sports, gone with all innovation. Gotta break a few eggs to make the cake people. Being the same will get us nowhere fast.

Now as for Tiger...really you all need to get over it. This is between him and his family, not you and yours. If anything you should take this event in our finger pointing media hungry society to take a look at yourself. You don't have the right to judge him for his choices and for that matter neither does his wife in my opinion; but that's another story. My point is, he made his choices. He's dealing with the fallout of his choices. Whether he goes back to playing the "conform to society game" is strictly up to him.

You are who you are. If you're a man-whore who likes something different every day or week the fess up to it and spare everybody who you may encounter the time of trying to fix you or getting their heart broken because you lied to protect them from who you really are. If you have a saviour complex (I used to have one myself), and it smells like something ain't right...RUN! You have yourself to worry about and should only be around people who can see you for who you are and will respect you. relationships should be mutual is what I'm trying to say.

I'll close by saying the following:

If you see things you don't like going on in your own space, get a broom and sweep them
away. Until then, STAY OUT OF OTHER FOLKS' BUSINESS!

How..

do you explain multiple versions of the Bible?

DADT?

Evolved

New job, new home, new life, new interests...just a new me.So it's been awhile since I've sat down at my computer to talk about what's been going on in the world around me. During the hiatus from my version of blogging, I've grown up a lot (some of it was BUNCH of whining I know, as evidenced by the archives). Life is what you make of it, and I'm trying not waste anymore of it.

Lately, I've found myself enamored with the current events and social issues; they now seem more pertinent to me. They've had this impact on my journey in this space we call life that I wouldn't trade. I mean I guess I've always had the desire to debate and seek more of the truth, but as I've gotten older its gotten more passionate, more intensified. There are days where I wish I'd have gone into politics or became a professor at a university. I guess it's not too late. I'm only just now turning 30 this year.

At any rate, this is my re-introduction to the blogosphere. I'm here to write about what's going on in the world from my perspective and learn from others as I go along. This blog will range from politics to entertainment, from economics to religion and beyond. It's my goal to get people think critically on the issues and not just accept what's fed to us as the gospel truth. This will be a forum for free-thinking and collaboration. With the help of contributors and readers maybe we'll be able to break the cycle of ignorance one person at a time.
